It was a cold and sunny day…
February in Wisconsin. Cold, snowy and often dark.
We met on a sunny and freezing Saturday afternoon for a dreamy shoot. It was 14C below zero! The wind did everything it could to freeze our fingers (and other parts) off.
I wore insulated boots, quilted pants, 2 jackets and double layer cap. Double gloves with hand warmers too, of course.
She wore an off the shoulder wedding dress. I was cold; she was amazing!
What can you do in February?
You can huddle by the fire when it is cold outside. Maybe dream of better weather. Or you can say “Damn the Torpedos – full speed ahead”! Dreamera Marie decided she wasn’t going to wait for warmer weather. She was going to dress up, go out into the cold and create some amazing images. It was cold, really cold. So she froze and lost feeling in her fingers but posed and smiled anyway.
Many years from now…
Many years from now I picture Dreamera Marie surrounded by her family. The young ones ask her what she did when she was young. And she pulls out these pictures and they are amazed. Maybe the temperature gets a little colder than it was, memory is like that, and maybe her humble photographer gets a little more dashing, but the images speak for themselves. “I was amazing, I was courageous, I was beautiful!” and the children are inspired…
