There has been an unusually large number of pelicans by the dam on Doty Island this year.  I estimate 300-400!  Not sure why but they sure put on a show.  We went bird watching in the evening and I planned ahead and brought my 70-200 with a 2X teleconverter.  This shot was taken at 400mm and the bird flew directly overhead.  The feather detail is just amazing.  These birds are so big and such wonderful fliers.  God sure is amazing when he solves an engineering problem!  With the extender the lens is a f/5.6 so with the lateness and the…

Foggy Morning on Doty Island

October is here and the mornings are starting to feel like Fall.  I have been out and about the past few weeks on a variety of assignments for my day job.  The next few weeks will be about the same.  This shot was taken on Doty Island as the fog started to clear.  I only had my 100mm lens with me so I had to take 5 shots and stitch them together into a panorama. Two Bridges in Winter

Four inches of fresh snow last night and everything is clean and beautiful.  I went out to get some macro (close up) photos with my new 100mm lens.  Ended up doing some landscapes instead.  Too much snow to climb through so I stuck to the parking lots and roads.  Of course, that didn't prevent me from stepping into a deep water filled rut!  Nothing like a shoe full of water to wake one up!
