My style is best characterized as Lifestyle Documentary. I seek to capture the day as it unfolds and present pictures that really show your day. I will help a bit with posing but don’t direct much. Also try and generate a few images that could be described as cinematic or dramtatic – but always tryiing to show you both as you really are as people.
All my photos will be color balanced to accurately reality. I sometimes do a bit of retouching but stay away from heavy adjustments.
Yes! Most clients enjoy my color digital images produced with state of the art cameras and lenses (I shoot mostly Canon). I also offer medium format images to clients that appreciate the timeless beauty of film. If you enjoy film I shoot both color and black and white. All pictures are delivered in digital formats and prints if you like!
In the past wedding photographers relied heavily on selling prints. I have taken a different approach. I charge upfront for the time we spend together and my editing time. I do offer prints but at a modest markup to recover my time and expenses. Packages now also include an album of your choice along with help on putting it together. Film packages also cover the cost of film, developing and scans.
A 20% deposit fee is due at the time of booking. This blocks out your wedding date and funds our engagement session. The balance is due one week prior to the wedding. I accept all major credit cards.
I know how frustrating it can be to have to wait months to see your pictures. I limit my weddings to a small number each year so that I have time immediately after your wedding to get your pictures selected and posted. I will post all of your proofs no later than 2 weeks after the wedding! All of your pictures will be on your page on my website.
Most of the wedding will be captured as things happen and not follow any kind of a shot list. We will discuss the events of the day beforehand and make sure I know what is important. One exception is if we do “formal” pictures – the wedding party and family after the ceremony. I will have you make up a shot list for these pictures and appoint someone to organize the people so this goes smoothly and as quickly as possible!
I follow upfront pricing for my time so that all of the final images are yours to share and print as you like. I will include social media formatted files of all your pictures. My package includes a print release so you can print your own pictures. I do offer professional prints at very reasonable prices if you would like me to help with prints.
I used to be a little amazed at this question and thought that all photographers dressed professionally! I will always dress in a style to match the formality of your wedding. Suit and tie if it is a formal event or Hawaiian shirt if that is what you want.
I know that plans can change or the unexpected can happen – just think about 2020!
Yes, I am insured by the Professional Photographers Association, PPA.
Not right now. I’ve moved towards serving clients that have smaller weddings or don’t need the extra coverage. This allows me to participate in everything and provide a consistent style and experience,
Of course! I keep some current weddings on my page for you to see a wide variety of images.
I will post epic images on either as a way to cerebrate your special day and to show off my work to other clients. The pictures I use are always ones you can be proud of and show you as the incredible person you are. Of course, if there is something sensitive I will respect your need for private first and foremost.
How about professional, easy going, fun, calm, trustworthy… I arrive early and stay late and always work to keep your wedding on schedule and fun! We will also get together before contract to meet each other and see if we can work together well. If we don’t click I will help you find another photographer who might be a better fit. All packages include an engagement or fun shoot well before the wedding. This is another chance to work together and become comfortablte before the wedding.
I follow the Boy Scout motto – be prepared!
Your guests are just as important as you are! I love helping others to capture their own pictures and have always found a way to work with your guests while getting my work done. I do strongly recommend your do an “unplugged” wedding ceremony to avoid issues.
Never have and cannot see that happening. I know that things go wrong and delays will happen. So I would never add to your stress. In fact, I have the skills necessary to get my work done quickly and efficiently so we can get back on schedule.
There are lots of great wedding photographers out there. I just want to be one of the great ones and not the best. Some things that make me unique are…
My favorite part of the day is sneaking away from the reception with the Bride and Groom for a few end of the day pictures. All of the anticipation and nerves have faded away and there is a kind of glow of love and happiness. The least fun part is formal picture time. I need to be super organized and as fast as possible. There is a lot of structured posing and working through the shot list. Also can be less fun the the couple so I try really hard to be efficient!
I always offer help if needed. I love sharing my experiences and have a pretty good idea how long something may take. I’ve also seen things work well and maybe not so great. I confess, I would love to be a wedding planner!
